NITI Aayog Releases Comprehensive Report on India’s School Education System

NITI Aayog has unveiled a policy report analyzing India’s school education system over the past decade. The report, titled ‘School Education System in India: Temporal Analysis and Policy Roadmap for Quality Enhancement,’ includes 13 detailed recommendations. These recommendations cover areas such as school structure reform, infrastructure improvement, governance enhancement, and promoting equity and inclusion.

The report outlines 8 systemic recommendations focusing on various aspects like school infrastructure, governance reforms, and digital learning expansion. Additionally, it suggests 5 academic recommendations centered on pedagogy transformation, holistic education, vocational training, and AI integration for innovative teaching methods.

Drawing data from various sources, including UDISE+ 2024-25 and ASER 2024, the report offers insights into India’s vast school education system, comprising 14.71 lakh schools and over 24.69 crore students. It highlights progress in areas like infrastructure development, digital integration, and equity enhancement, especially in girls’ participation and SC/ST students’ enrollment.

The report also provides 33 implementation pathways for the recommendations, categorized into short, medium, and long-term strategies with defined responsibilities at different governance levels.
