Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday. Following his election, Kumar resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30. He has confirmed his intention to step down as Chief Minister, stating that new individuals will be appointed to these roles soon.
Accompanied by party officials, Kumar arrived in New Delhi and expressed his decision to focus on national responsibilities. Sanjay Jha, National Working President of Janata Dal (United), hinted at the beginning of the process to form a new government in Bihar after April 13. Nitish Kumar’s statements indicate an imminent leadership transition in Bihar.
The NDA, including leaders from the BJP and its allies, is committed to continuing Nitish Kumar’s governance model. Bihar Minister Vijay Choudhary emphasized the legacy of the ‘Nitish Model’ that has driven progress in the state over the past two decades. Kumar is expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the formation of the next government in Bihar.
Top NDA leaders are likely to finalize the next Chief Minister and ministerial portfolios in the upcoming meeting. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha are also in New Delhi for discussions on leadership and power-sharing arrangements within the BJP core committee. The NDA is swiftly moving towards a smooth transition of leadership and government formation in Bihar.
