The Bihar government, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has launched Mobile Registration Units to assist individuals aged 80 and above in registering their land and flats from their residences. This initiative aims to ease the registration process for senior citizens who often encounter challenges due to physical limitations and complex procedures. Through this service, elderly citizens can now access all land and flat registration facilities at home, as announced by the Chief Minister.
To ensure efficient service delivery, the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department will offer document registration services through Mobile Registration Units within a specified timeframe. Applicants can apply online for this service, with a commitment from the department to complete the registration process within seven working days. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing citizen-friendly governance through initiatives like the ‘Seven Resolutions–3’ program, initiated after the formation of the new government on November 20, 2025.
In addition to the mobile registration service, the government is implementing a new system to provide updated land status information to buyers and sellers before registration, upon request. This measure aims to enhance transparency and accuracy in land transactions, thereby reducing disputes and inconveniences. Both initiatives are set to be operational from April 1, with officials instructed to ensure their effective implementation for the benefit of senior citizens and to streamline the land registration process in Bihar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar encouraged public feedback on the new system, allowing suggestions to be submitted until January 19, 2026, through designated channels.
