A major encounter occurred in Bihar’s Vaishali district, resulting in the death of wanted criminal Prince Kumar, also known as Abhijit Kumar, who had a Rs 2 lakh bounty on his head. The Patna Special Task Force (STF) and Vaishali Police conducted a joint operation where Prince Kumar was killed, and one of his associates was arrested.
The operation took place in Hanuman Nagar, Digghi, under the Sadar police station area. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the STF and Vaishali Police raided a house where Prince Kumar was hiding. During the raid, the accused fired at the police team, leading to a self-defensive retaliation.
Superintendent of Police Vikram Sihag stated that in the exchange of fire, Prince Kumar sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at Sadar Hospital. Another accomplice of Prince Kumar attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police, with illegal firearms and ammunition recovered from his possession.
Prince Kumar, a close associate and sharpshooter of Subodh Singh, the leader of Bihar’s notorious gold robbery gang, was wanted in multiple cases related to murder, robbery, and Arms Act violations. He had been evading authorities for years and was involved in high-profile crimes across different states.
