Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized that the state budget serves as a comprehensive roadmap for the overall development of the state and the fulfillment of every citizen’s aspirations. During the launch of the “Ama Janiba, Ama Budget” state-level budget awareness campaign, he highlighted the state government’s commitment to achieving set targets by 2047 in alignment with the national vision.
The outlined objectives include elevating per capita income from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 32 lakh, improving the quality of life, reducing multidimensional poverty to five percent, boosting women’s workforce participation to 70 percent, extending life expectancy beyond 80 years, and eliminating anaemia and malnutrition. Chief Minister Majhi also underlined that the 2026–27 state budget will lay a solid foundation for realizing the vision of a “Prosperous Odisha.”
The current budget proposes a total outlay of Rs 3.10 lakh crore, focusing significantly on capital expenditure and introducing 31 new initiatives, programs, and schemes. With a seven percent increase from the previous year, the state aims to transition Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047. Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence in the state’s potential to achieve these ambitious goals with the support of the people and the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
The budget for the 2026-27 financial year includes specific provisions for rural development, employment creation, and addressing migration challenges. A budget awareness campaign is scheduled from April 1 to 14 to ensure broad public engagement and awareness. Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the budget symbolizes Odisha’s progress and prosperity and, through collective endeavors, will position the state as a significant economic force in the nation.
