Amid concerns over a fuel shortage due to the Middle East conflict, Odisha’s Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, reassured the state’s residents not to panic, confirming sufficient stock of cooking gas (LPG), petrol, and diesel. The Chief Secretary, along with officials, reviewed the availability of these fuels during a meeting at Lokseva Bhawan.
The meeting included discussions on the distribution process and supply chain management of LPG from refineries to retail outlets. Officials from oil companies confirmed no issues in supplying LPG to households, educational institutions, and hospitals. The Chief Secretary emphasized maintaining a balanced supply chain for smooth availability of fuels.
To ensure public awareness, the Chief Secretary instructed oil companies to disseminate information through various media platforms. Additionally, they were asked to provide daily reports on fuel availability to monitor the supply chain effectively. The Chief Secretary affirmed that there is an ample supply of cooking gas in the state, urging the public not to worry.
The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha requested the Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas to address restrictions in commercial LPG supply to hotels and restaurants. They sought immediate intervention to ensure uninterrupted supply, emphasizing the sector’s importance in serving visitors smoothly.
