The Director General of Police (DGP) in Odisha, Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, highlighted the importance of a coordinated, technology-driven, and intelligence-led approach to address evolving internal security threats that transcend state boundaries. Khurania made these remarks during the Eastern Regional Police Coordination Committee (ERPCC) meeting in Bhubaneswar. The meeting, chaired by the Odisha DGP, aimed to enhance inter-state coordination to combat organized crime, Left-Wing Extremism (LWE), and other security challenges.

Khurania welcomed delegates from Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, along with senior officers from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs). The Ministry of Home Affairs organized the ERPCC Meeting–2026 to strengthen collaboration among states in tackling security threats. Khurania emphasized the need for continuous intelligence sharing, advanced technology adoption, and close inter-state cooperation to counter sophisticated criminal and extremist networks effectively.

The day-long discussions at the meeting covered various strategic issues, including rehabilitation of surrendered Left-Wing Extremists, combating inter-state narcotics trafficking, and enhancing cybercrime response through real-time intelligence sharing. Participating states also focused on improving border policing, technology-enabled law enforcement mechanisms, and coordinated operations against criminal networks. The meeting concluded with a consensus to institutionalize regular coordination meetings to enhance operational synergy and address emerging security concerns.
