Amid a special operation by the Odisha Police targeting criminals and illegal activities, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania issued a stern warning, emphasizing zero tolerance for criminal elements in the state. The police have been actively pursuing absconding criminals, illegal narcotics and arms traders, and habitual offenders over the past five days. Efforts include executing Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) and taking action against repeat offenders under the National Security Act (NSA).
During the five-day drive, the Odisha Police successfully executed over 1,700 NBWs, booked six individuals under the NSA, and apprehended around 50 absconding criminals. Additionally, a significant amount of arms and ammunition were seized from various locations across the state. DGP Khurania expressed satisfaction with the operation’s progress and urged continued active participation from officials and personnel in every district and police station.
The crackdown, set to continue for another ten days, aims to root out criminal activities and ensure a safer environment for residents. The DGP reiterated that criminals would face stringent police action wherever they are found engaging in unlawful acts. Notably, recent police encounters in Sambalpur and Berhampur resulted in the arrest of wanted criminals, including Dipuna Nayak and Manish Sahu, who sustained injuries during the operations.
