Public sector oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited are working to maintain a steady supply of petrol and diesel in Rajasthan. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies confirms the availability of ample petroleum product reserves in the state, with a strengthened supply chain to meet consumer needs. Fuel stations in various districts have sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, and the public is advised not to panic.
Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Ambrish Kumar, noted that the retail price of diesel at government-owned oil company outlets is around Rs 94 per litre, while it is approximately Rs 97 per litre at Nayara-operated outlets. This price disparity has led consumers to prefer public sector fuel stations. Additionally, institutional diesel is priced at nearly Rs 160 per litre, prompting industries and wholesale consumers to shift towards retail fuel pumps, creating extra demand at certain locations.
Oil companies are focusing on meeting the requirements of retail consumers and ensuring a consistent supply. Representatives mentioned a significant increase in fuel demand and sales in Rajasthan compared to the previous year. Indian Oil Corporation Limited saw a 28% rise in petrol sales and a 43% increase in diesel sales in the state, surpassing growth rates in other regions. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited also reported notable increases in petrol and diesel sales.
Despite the surge in demand, the companies assure that sufficient fuel stocks are available, and the supply chain is functioning smoothly. Consumers are urged to maintain their regular purchasing habits and refrain from panic buying or hoarding based on rumors. The Secretary emphasized that petrol and diesel supplies in Rajasthan are stable, ensuring uninterrupted availability for the public.
