Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unveil the logo for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026 at the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar today at 5.30 p.m. This event marks the beginning of preparations for the prestigious film festival, aiming to provide a global platform for filmmakers, artists, and creative professionals while showcasing the region’s cultural heritage and diverse storytelling traditions.

The festival is expected to attract filmmakers from India and abroad, promoting Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging destination for cinema and creative industries. This initiative is seen as a step towards strengthening the local film ecosystem, encouraging film production, tourism, and employment opportunities for youth in the creative sector.

The unveiling ceremony is anticipated to be attended by senior government officials, members of the film industry, and other stakeholders. With the launch of IFFJK 2026, Jammu and Kashmir is making significant strides towards establishing itself on the international cinematic map. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 7 to 10, 2026, at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, with additional events planned until September 11.

The main venue for the festival will be SKICC in Srinagar, with open-air screenings and events across various tourist destinations. The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), J&K, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), are the organizers. Global entries for competitions like Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor Male/Female are open until July 31, 2026, through platforms such as FilmFreeway.

The festival will include international competitions, Indian cinema sections, documentaries, short films, student films, animation, and regional cinema. It will also feature industry forums, technical workshops, and cultural programs aimed at reconnecting Jammu and Kashmir with the cinematic world.
