Visitors and devotees heading to the India-Pakistan border near Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer at the Tanot Mata Temple must now obtain an online pass, as per the Temple Trust’s new regulations. The requirement for prior registration aims to boost security and manage crowds efficiently. Those planning to enter the border area are obligated to complete online registration through the Trust’s official website.
To facilitate smooth passage through security checkpoints, individuals must carry two printed copies of the pass and the original identity document submitted during the online application. Each adult visitor needs to apply individually for the pass, while children under 12 can enter with guardians without a separate pass. The initiative seeks to alleviate congestion and waiting times at checkpoints, particularly during peak tourist seasons.
The move comes in response to the previous inconvenience caused by long verification queues at the border, affecting both pilgrims and tourists. Jaisalmer shares a 471-mile-long India-Pakistan border, the lengthiest stretch in Rajasthan, with the Border Security Force overseeing 122 checkpoints. The Tanot region, significant both strategically and religiously, draws millions of tourists and devotees annually.
Implementing an online pass system is expected to aid security agencies in maintaining visitor records and ensuring smoother border crossings. Temple Trust officials urge all pilgrims and tourists to complete the registration process before embarking on their journey to Tanot to avoid last-minute complications. The new system is designed to save visitors time and enhance security measures at the border, according to a Trust official.
Travelers are advised to plan their visits in advance and ensure they have all necessary documents for a hassle-free entry into the border area.
