Operation Mahadev, targeting Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists, brought justice to victims of the Pahalgam and Gagangir attacks. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) found a connection between the two incidents, with ballistic analysis confirming the same weapon used in both attacks.
In the Gagangir attack on October 20, 2024, seven workers were killed by Pakistani terrorists at a camp near the Z-Morh tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir. Investigations revealed a common module behind both assaults, with shared planners and handlers.
The Resistance Front initially claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack but later retracted the statement due to fears of Indian retaliation. Despite this, Operation Sindoor was conducted, leading to significant damage to terror infrastructure.
Operation Mahadev resulted in the elimination of Faisal Jutt and his associates, who were involved in both the Gagangir and Pahalgam attacks. Security forces recovered weapons from the terrorists, aiding in establishing Pakistan’s direct involvement.
The NIA’s investigation uncovered a recurring pattern of attacks in Jammu and Kashmir since 2023, all linked to The Resistance Front. The three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev had been active in the region, carrying out multiple attacks and seeking refuge in forests.
The mobile data recovered during the operation revealed a network led by Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative Sajid Jatt, alias Ali Bhai, orchestrating terror activities through encrypted channels. Jatt, a wanted terrorist, played a key role in directing operations in the Valley.
