The Opposition has accused the BJP-led government of deliberately turning illegal infiltration into a prominent election topic. Leaders from various Opposition parties have pointed out that the ruling party consistently raises this issue wherever elections are held. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the seriousness of infiltration, stating that it is crucial for protecting Assam’s identity and national security.
Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi highlighted the government’s focus on infiltrators despite PM Modi’s claim that it is not just an election matter. She questioned the effectiveness of border security measures, especially along the Bangladesh border, during the BJP’s 11-year tenure. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha criticized the government for prioritizing infiltration over addressing unemployment issues in various states.
Congress MP Manoj Kumar reiterated the Opposition’s stance, emphasizing that the BJP consistently raises the issue of illegal infiltrators during election campaigns across different states. He also raised concerns about rising unemployment, inflation, and the deteriorating education and health sectors in the country. Samajwadi Party MP Rajiv Rai called on the government to disclose the actual number of illegal infiltrators in the country and criticized the lack of transparency on this issue.
