After Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, opposition parties in Odisha are now calling for the resignation of state School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond due to errors in school textbooks. The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President emphasized that if no action is taken within seven days, the Congress will push for an Odisha Bandh. The Biju Janata Dal MLA also supported the demand for Gond’s resignation over significant errors in textbooks for Classes 1 to 8.
State Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary criticized both the BJD and Congress for political opportunism, accusing them of exploiting student concerns. He questioned the moral authority of the Congress and highlighted past incidents of question paper leaks during their tenure. Additionally, he pointed out corruption allegations during the Congress-led UPA government’s rule and questioned the BJD’s accountability in the face of corruption accusations.
