Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Assembly, Jitendra Chaudhury, has urged for a government job to be provided to a family member of Angel Chakma, a student who was fatally attacked in Dehradun. Chaudhury criticized the handling of the case by Uttarakhand Police, citing delays in filing the case and apprehending the culprits.
Chaudhury highlighted that the murder case was registered late by the Uttarakhand Police and the investigation proceeded slowly. Despite Angel Chakma being severely assaulted and racially abused, the initial charges by Dehradun Police were not stringent enough. Angel’s father, a BSF jawan, expressed that timely medical care could have saved his son.
The Opposition Leader has called upon the Tripura government to intervene with the Uttarakhand Chief Minister to secure a government job for Angel Chakma’s family member. In a related development, five suspects have been arrested by the Dehradun Police in connection with the incident.
