Opposition leaders criticized Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for his comments on the Uniform Civil Code, accusing him of being power-hungry. Yadav’s statement that only those with one marriage would have the right to live in Madhya Pradesh under the proposed code stirred controversy. Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal condemned the BJP government’s stance, alleging a disregard for public welfare.
Congress members raised concerns about alleged corruption in Yadav’s family and called for his resignation if involved in malpractice. They accused Yadav of diverting attention from real issues and criticized his focus on Hindu-Muslim matters. Emphasizing the importance of secularism, they urged against divisive rhetoric that could harm the country’s unity.
President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, Mahant Ravindra Puri, supported Yadav’s views, citing the benefits of a Uniform Civil Code. Puri highlighted the traditional value of monogamy and its role in societal harmony. He called for other state leaders to endorse Yadav’s message for population control and social stability.
