At least 27.08 lakh candidates have received training through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 in 38 sectors, spanning 36 states and 732 districts as of December 7, 2025. Between April 2024 and December 7, 2025, more than 7.5 lakh candidates were trained in sectors like IT-ITeS, aerospace, agriculture, rubber, leather, tourism, and hospitality across 34 states and 670 districts.
PMKVY is a key short-term skilling scheme by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It has transitioned from an initial incentive-based certification program to a large-scale, demand-driven skilling ecosystem over its four phases. The Ministry has introduced 77 customized courses and 102 future-skill job roles to enhance employability in areas such as AI, Industry 4.0, green jobs, and digital services.
The implementation of PMKVY 4.0 involves more than 15,500 institutions, including over 7,000 Skill Hubs in educational institutions. Notably, prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, IIITs, NITs, and government bodies are now part of PMKVY. A significant amount of Rs 1,652.89 crore was utilized between April 2024 and September 2025 under this scheme.
Under PMKVY 4.0, a specific allocation of Rs 200 crore has been set aside to establish a National Pool of Trainers and Assessors. The scheme focuses on creating standard operating procedures, curricula, and certification frameworks to enhance the skilling ecosystem. As of November 2025, 34,505 Trainers and 13,844 Assessors have been certified under PMKVY 4.0-linked programs.
