Over 3,000 Cases of Gender-Based Violence Reported in Pakistan in First Half of 2026

As per Sahil’s Six Months Cruel Numbers Report, Pakistan witnessed 3,172 cases of gender-based violence in the initial six months of 2026, with 18 cases involving transgender individuals. The reported incidents included 644 murders, 514 cases of torture, 462 abductions, 363 suicides, 280 rapes, 175 injuries, 132 honour killings, and 21 other crimes like harassment, gang rape, and pornography cases.
The victims’ age distribution revealed that 334 victims were aged 21-30 years, 306 victims were aged 11-20 years, and 120 victims were aged 31-40 years. Notably, the ages of victims were undisclosed in 71% of the cases.
The report compiled data from national and regional newspapers across various regions in Pakistan, highlighting that 27% of the perpetrators were acquaintances of the victims, 24% were strangers, and 13% were husbands. In 20% of the cases, the perpetrators were not identified.
