More than 5 lakh students are set to participate in Telangana’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) public examinations beginning this Saturday. The exams will be held at 2,676 centers across the state, with a total of 5,28,239 students registered for the exams, which will run until April 16. The exams will start at 9:30 a.m., and students are advised to arrive at the centers by 8:30 a.m., with a grace period of five minutes provided for latecomers.
The School Education Department has made extensive arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams and has dispatched hall tickets to the respective schools. Students and parents have been urged to visit the designated centers in advance to familiarize themselves with the locations and ensure punctual attendance on exam day. Additionally, 144 flying squads will be deployed to monitor the exams and prevent any malpractices during the examination period.
The SSC exams this year will span 33 days, a significant extension compared to previous years. The longer duration of the exams, scheduled from March 14 to April 16, has sparked discussions within academic circles. Unlike the usual practice of completing exams in 10-12 days, the Board has introduced longer intervals between exam papers, with gaps ranging from three to five days, similar to other educational boards.
Authorities have prohibited candidates from bringing electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, and smartwatches into the examination centers. To facilitate compliance, arrangements will be made at the entrance for the safe deposit of personal belongings and electronic gadgets free of charge. While concerns have been raised by student unions and school managements regarding the extended exam schedule, the Education Department has defended the decision, emphasizing its aim to reduce stress levels and enhance academic performance.
