Dr. S.G. Susheelamma and Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi, recipients of the Padma Shri awards from Karnataka, discussed their commitment to social service. Dr. Susheelamma highlighted her organization’s efforts in tribal welfare, aiming to provide housing and employment opportunities. She envisioned an India free from poverty, ensuring every citizen’s access to basic needs. Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi, recognized for his service to hemophilia patients, expressed surprise and gratitude for the award.
Dr. Hanagavadi shared his journey in establishing services for hemophilia patients, including physiotherapy and a blood bank. He emphasized the commitment to providing free treatment to patients with inherited bleeding disorders. The awardee expressed gratitude for the recognition and outlined plans to enhance blood bank services.
Eight achievers from Karnataka have been honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards. Among them, Shatavadhani R. Ganesh and T.T. Jagannathan were recognized for their contributions to art and trade, respectively. Aerospace scientist Shubha Venkatesh Iyengar and others were also acknowledged for their achievements in literature and education.
