Padma Shri recipient, Professor Juzer Vasi, emphasized the importance of developing semiconductor hubs and expanding solar energy production to fuel the nation’s progress in the coming years. Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, he highlighted the significant growth potential in these sectors. Professor Vasi, an esteemed figure at IIT Bombay, received the prestigious award for his extensive contributions to microelectronics and photovoltaics.

Juzer Vasi commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to establish India as a chip-manufacturing hub, stressing the critical role of semiconductors in various sectors, including defense. He underscored the necessity of self-reliance in semiconductor production and the significance of pursuing independent research in this field. Additionally, he underscored the importance of leveraging solar energy for enhancing national energy security, emphasizing the need for technological advancements in solar resource utilization.

Speaking on the rapid advancement of deep-tech and India’s position in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Professor Vasi highlighted the transformative impact of AI across various domains. He urged India to accelerate its engagement in AI, leveraging the country’s abundant talent pool to emerge as a global leader in this cutting-edge technology.
