Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted that his team’s repeated errors led to Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 Test series win, culminating in a 78-run victory in the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Despite notable efforts from Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 94, and Salman Agha, who contributed 71, Pakistan fell short after being bowled out for 358 while chasing a challenging 437.
Reflecting on the defeat, Masood emphasized the unforgiving nature of Test cricket, highlighting the need to capitalize on crucial moments. He noted that the team had opportunities to dominate but failed to capitalize, stressing the importance of consistency over the five-day format.
Masood also pointed out Bangladesh’s resilient performance in the first innings as a pivotal moment in the match. Despite Bangladesh’s early struggles at 116/6, they rallied to reach 278, with lower-order partnerships and a century from Litton Das turning the tide in their favor.
Bangladesh’s dominance continued as they secured a 46-run lead in the first innings, restricting Pakistan to 232, and extended their advantage with a total of 390 in the second innings, fueled by Mushfiqur Rahim’s impressive 137. This victory marked Bangladesh’s fourth consecutive Test triumph over Pakistan, propelling them above India to fifth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
