Recognizing its Kashmir narrative’s weakness, Pakistan is attempting various strategies to address its internal challenges. The country faces internal unrest, including terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a secessionist movement in Balochistan, and discontent in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB). Despite these issues, Pakistan plans to launch a diplomatic campaign to internationalize the Kashmir matter in the UK and Europe, as reported by retired Indian Army Officer Nilesh Kunwar in ‘Eurasia Review.’

Criticism has been directed at Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir for engaging in reckless rhetoric regarding Kashmir. Kunwar highlighted the absence of domestic criticism towards the military establishment, allowing the army chief to make provocative statements. Munir’s remarks on Kashmir have been deemed as reflecting a biased mindset, with him suggesting that India’s view of terrorism in the region is a lawful struggle for freedom recognized by international law.

Field Marshal Munir’s statements about fighting multiple wars for Kashmir have been criticized as unrealistic by Kunwar. Despite the history of failed diplomatic attempts on Kashmir, Munir seems determined to pursue this strategy. Kunwar suggests that Pakistan’s continual focus on the Kashmir issue is a diversion tactic to shift public attention from domestic crises and conflicts with Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s persistence in raising the Kashmir matter, despite past failures, is seen as an attempt by Field Marshal Munir to distract from internal challenges. The military leader’s repeated emphasis on the Kashmir issue is viewed as a way to divert attention from significant domestic issues and conflicts. Kunwar questions the effectiveness of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on Kashmir, given the historical pattern of unsuccessful attempts.
