A Pakistani woman, Farha Naaz, and her son, Mohammad Fardin Khan, were apprehended by Bagepalli police in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district for reportedly staying in India unlawfully after their visas expired. The duo, residents of Dasagarepalli village, faces charges for overstaying their visas and acquiring Indian identity documents, including Aadhaar card, ration card, voter ID, and bank accounts. Authorities are scrutinizing the legitimacy of these documents and the process through which they were obtained.
Farha Naaz, a Pakistani national, had wed Ayub Khan from Dasagarepalli village, with whom she has two children. Despite being Pakistani citizens, both Farha Naaz and her son are accused of possessing Indian identity papers. Investigations revealed their involvement in securing voter ID cards and ration cards, which is deemed illegal without Indian citizenship and constitutes an offense. Ayub Khan, currently employed as a bus driver in Qatar, was not present during the arrest.
The arrest was prompted after their visas were not renewed post ‘Operation Sindoor’, leading to a complaint about their alleged illegal stay in India. The FIR, filed by Bagepalli Tahsildar Manisha N. Patri, cites various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Representation of the People Act related to fraudulent enrollment as voters. Authorities are also probing if any individuals aided in the acquisition of the forged documents. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details.
