The People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI) is thrilled as Para Armwrestling has met the global reach requirement for potential inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games. This achievement, confirmed by the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF), signifies a significant milestone for the sport.
Para Armwrestling now surpasses the minimum participation threshold of 32 countries, as validated by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). This development is anticipated to enhance India’s medal chances at upcoming Paralympic Games, given the nation’s burgeoning talent pool in Para Armwrestling.
India’s Para Armwrestling landscape has been enriched by the efforts of PAFI and the Pro Panja League, which have consistently promoted the sport through dedicated categories in various competitions. Notable Para Armwrestlers like Chandan Kumar Behera, Butta Singh, and others have emerged through these initiatives, elevating the sport’s profile in the country.
Parvinn Dabass, Co-Founder of Pro Panja League, emphasized the significance of Para Armwrestling’s potential Paralympic inclusion, highlighting the emergence of exceptional talent in this category. Preeti Jhangiani, President of PAFI and Vice President of Asian Armwrestling Federation (AAF), expressed confidence in India’s Para arm wrestling talent, underscoring the country’s commitment to nurturing global champions in the sport.
