Paris Olympic bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh, Army shooter Lakshita, former world championship medallist Akhil Sheoran, and Maharashtra’s Sakshi Sunil Padekar emerged victorious in their events at the T4 National Selection Trials for Rifle and Pistol shooters in Dehradun. Sarabjot claimed top honors in the men’s 10m air pistol final, with Army shooter Ajendra Singh Chauhan finishing second and World champion Samrat Rana in third place.
Haryana’s Kamaljeet Choudhary secured fourth place, while Saurabh Chaudhary, the qualification topper, ended up fifth. In the women’s 10m air pistol final, Army shooter Lakshita clinched victory in a closely contested match, with Uttar Pradesh’s Mansi Anand taking the third spot. The men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final saw Akhil Sheoran winning by a narrow margin over Navy’s Niraj Kumar, with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar finishing third.
In the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions final, Maharashtra’s Sakshi Sunil Padekar triumphed over Karnataka’s Tilottama Sen. The updated national rankings show Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve leading the men’s 10m air pistol standings, while Suruchi maintains the top spot in the women’s event. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar continues to lead the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions rankings, and Ashi Chouksey tops the women’s standings.
The T4 Rifle and Pistol trials will conclude with the 50m Rifle Prone events, following which the Indian rifle and pistol squads for upcoming international assignments are expected to be finalized.
