Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, responding to the no-confidence motion against Lok Speaker Om Birla, emphasized the widespread support and goodwill the Speaker enjoys across party lines. Despite some Opposition members expressing opposition to the motion, they feel compelled to support it due to political reasons.

Rijiju criticized the Opposition for attempting to remove Om Birla and highlighted the significant advancements made during his tenure, such as the transition to a digital parliament and increased opportunities for new members to participate in discussions. He credited Om Birla for streamlining House proceedings and enhancing its efficiency.

Acknowledging the positive changes brought about by Om Birla, Rijiju expressed gratitude on behalf of lawmakers for the Speaker’s efforts in modernizing parliamentary operations. He condemned the Opposition’s move to oust Om Birla, noting the increased productivity and inclusivity under his leadership.

Rijiju commended Om Birla’s conduct in managing the House proceedings and underscored the pride felt by ruling lawmakers in serving during this period. He criticized the Opposition for what he perceived as a malicious strategy to tarnish the reputation of constitutional bodies by targeting the Speaker.
