The Monsoon Session of Parliament faced its fourth consecutive day of disruption on Thursday, with the Rajya Sabha adjourned multiple times due to uproar over the NEET paper leak and alleged police actions against protesting students in Delhi. Despite efforts to resume proceedings at 2 p.m., continuous sloganeering led to another adjournment. Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan’s plea for order was drowned out by opposition protests.

Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing student protests and police actions. The government’s offer for a debate on the paper leak issue was rejected by the opposition, leading to a deadlock in parliamentary functioning.

Amidst the chaos, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju reiterated the government’s willingness to debate the issue without conditions. However, the opposition, led by Kharge, insisted on Pradhan’s resignation, dismissing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance of swift action against those involved in exam leaks.

The confrontation extended beyond the Parliament House, with opposition MPs staging a sit-in and the ruling party protesting against the opposition’s stance. The deadlock persisted, with both sides refusing to budge on their demands, further delaying legislative work.
