A Pawan Hans helicopter had to make an emergency landing in the sea shortly after taking off from Port Blair in the northern part of Middle Andaman Island. The helicopter, carrying seven individuals, encountered difficulty and had to ditch into the sea. Fortunately, all seven people on board were rescued safely, and there were no reported injuries.
The incident, described as a “short landing incident near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,” occurred around 9:30 a.m. The helicopter, with two crew members and five passengers, faced challenges during its landing attempt. Officials mentioned that the aircraft went down into the sea about 300 meters short of the runway while approaching Mayabunder for landing.
Following this incident, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the emergency sea landing. Notably, this event occurred just a day after a tragic air crash in Jharkhand that resulted in the loss of seven lives. The Beechcraft C90 air ambulance, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, crashed in Chatra district, claiming the lives of all seven individuals on board.
