Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan is set to campaign for Jana Sena and BJP candidates in the upcoming Telangana municipal elections on February 7 and 8. The Jana Sena party highlighted that both parties have fielded candidates in a cooperative manner to enhance their presence at the grassroots level and benefit Telangana.
Pawan Kalyan will represent the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during the campaign, as stated by the Jana Sena party. Notably, Jana Sena and BJP are part of the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. While the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is not participating in the municipal elections, the BJP and Jana Sena are independently contesting without a formal alliance.
The Telangana BJP has confirmed its independent participation in the polls, aiming to contest in all urban local bodies. However, the number of candidates fielded by Jana Sena remains undisclosed. Additionally, the specific municipalities that Pawan Kalyan will cover during his campaign are yet to be announced by Jana Sena.
Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao emphasized the party’s self-reliance in the municipal elections, stating that the BJP stands as a strong political entity in Telangana without the need for alliances. While the TDP is abstaining from the municipal elections, the party had also refrained from participating in the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the state.
