The main accused in the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi, Jharkhand, managed to escape from police custody but was later re-arrested after an encounter where he sustained injuries. Identified as Saif, he had been arrested in connection with the attack and fled while in custody at Kotwali police station. Following a chase, he was cornered in the Mandar area, where he allegedly snatched a weapon from a police officer and fired, leading to his injury.
He was taken back into custody and hospitalized for treatment. The incident originated from the petrol bomb assault on the RSS office in Nivaranpur, Chutia police station area. CCTV footage captured two individuals throwing explosives at the building, resulting in no casualties or significant damage. A complaint by Jharkhand RSS state head Narsingh Kumar prompted an FIR at Chutia police station, citing the attack as a serious conspiracy under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Demanding heightened security at the office, the RSS requested a permanent police presence due to the regular presence of members. Three suspects have been apprehended, with authorities investigating the attack’s motive, the accused network, and potential connections to a broader conspiracy. The case now involves the invocation of UAPA provisions, with ongoing comprehensive investigations by law enforcement agencies.
