Ambassador of the Philippines to India, Josel F Ignacio, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting India’s significant transformation over the years towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He highlighted the strong bilateral ties between India and the Philippines, emphasizing the shared global priorities and developmental aspirations of both nations.
Ignacio expressed admiration for PM Modi’s efforts in enhancing relations between the two countries, describing the current state of India-Philippines relations as being at an “all-time high” with potential for further growth. He underscored the increasing trade relations, with both nations surpassing the USD 3 billion mark and rapidly approaching USD 4 billion.
The diplomat also mentioned the recent visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Manila, where he participated in various significant meetings, including the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India 2026 and the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Ignacio appreciated the regular visits by the Indian Foreign Minister, highlighting the close discussions on mutual interests and the positive developments in bilateral relations.
