Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in fruitful discussions with Asia House and top global company executives to enhance economic ties and explore future prospects. Emphasizing India’s robust manufacturing sector and the vast opportunities available, he highlighted the potential for deeper collaboration through the India-UK CETA agreement.
During a luncheon meeting with UKIBC members, Goyal interacted with senior leaders from prominent international firms to advance the growth agenda between India and the UK. The talks centered on unlocking new avenues for investment, fostering partnerships across various sectors, and enhancing India’s global competitiveness for mutual growth.
Addressing a diverse audience at the London Business School, Goyal underscored the pivotal role of education in strengthening India-UK relations. He emphasized the significance of students, professionals, and entrepreneurs in promoting collaboration, innovation, and people-to-people connections. Additionally, he discussed how the India-UK CETA would create fresh opportunities for cooperation and bolster partnerships in different sectors for the benefit of both economies.
Accompanied by a significant Indian business delegation comprising over 160 leading companies, Goyal aimed to translate a historic economic vision into concrete actions during his visit to London. At the Business Plenary Session, he highlighted the positive trajectory of India-UK relations, particularly with the forthcoming India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) scheduled to take effect on July 15, 2026.
Expressing optimism about the future, Goyal encouraged businesses from both nations to deepen their engagement, drive innovation, and invest ambitiously for shared prosperity as the India-UK CETA opens up new avenues for growth. He also extended his best wishes to the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, commending their inspirational journey and resilience, and wished them success in the upcoming matches at the Women’s T20 World Cup.
