Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides met in New Delhi, reaffirming their dedication to fighting terrorism, including cross-border terrorism. The discussions between the leaders encompassed various sectors such as trade, defense, technology, education, and India-EU relations. Both countries elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership and exchanged agreements on counter-terrorism, maritime security, and other areas.
President Christodoulides shared a light moment with PM Modi, taking a selfie at the Hyderabad House before the meeting. He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar appreciated the positive sentiments and guidance of President Christodoulides for enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation with the EU.
Christodoulides’ visit builds on the momentum from PM Modi’s visit to Cyprus in 2025, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening the India-Cyprus partnership. The President is set to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honor at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
