Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the historical significance of the Somnath Temple, which has endured attacks for over a millennium, during his attendance at the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav. The temple, located in Gir Somnath, Gujarat, witnessed a series of religious ceremonies as part of the event.
The event marked 75 years since the reconstructed Somnath Temple was inaugurated in 1951 by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, after restoration efforts led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. PM Modi reflected on the temple’s resilience, stating that despite past attacks, the spirit of India has remained unbroken.
Participating in various rituals at the temple, including Vishesh Maha Puja and historic ceremonies, PM Modi unveiled a commemorative stamp and coin to honor the shrine’s legacy. He also praised the saffron flag flying atop the temple as a symbol of faith’s triumph and a testament to the collective consciousness of Indians.
During the event, PM Modi highlighted the enduring strength and devotion represented by the Somnath Temple, emphasizing its role as a beacon of India’s cultural courage. The Prime Minister expressed hope for the blessings of Mahadev to always be with the nation, underscoring the temple’s significance in inspiring the Indian populace.
