Following widespread outrage and protests over the NEET examination paper leak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken out. PM Modi emphasized that the well-being and future of the nation’s students are the government’s top priority. He assured that severe action will be taken against those responsible, with the establishment of fast-track courts for quick justice and strict punishment.

In response, the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) criticized the timing and manner of PM Modi’s announcement. The party expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister chose to make the statement on a social media platform instead of addressing Parliament or engaging directly with the protesting students.

The editorial in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ highlighted the ongoing protests led by students and activist Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The demonstrators have been demanding accountability and reforms in the national examination system, dismissing PM Modi’s assurances as insufficient and labeling them as mere rhetoric.

Critics have pointed out that despite numerous paper leak incidents during the Modi administration, it took the 153rd leak and subsequent public outcry to elicit an official response. The editorial raised concerns about the government’s handling of the crisis, questioning the lack of accountability and the imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) in Delhi to suppress dissent.

As dissatisfaction mounts among students and parents affected by the paper leak, doubts linger over whether the government’s commitments will lead to tangible reforms or remain unfulfilled promises.
