Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised initiatives aimed at promoting the Tamil language both in India and abroad. He highlighted the significance of children embracing and celebrating the world’s oldest language. During his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program, PM Modi shared about a heartwarming effort in Fiji to propagate Indian language and culture, particularly focusing on connecting the younger generation with Tamil.
In Fiji, Tamil Day was recently observed in a school in Raki-Raki, where children enthusiastically showcased their linguistic heritage by reciting poems, delivering speeches, and presenting their culture on stage. PM Modi also mentioned similar endeavors within India, citing the fourth ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ held in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency.
During the program, the Prime Minister played an audio clip featuring children fluently speaking Tamil, despite Hindi being their mother tongue. He emphasized the dedication of these children from Varanasi to learning Tamil, showcasing their love for the language. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi this year focused on promoting Tamil through various campaigns in over 50 schools, as highlighted by the audio clip played by PM Modi.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, an exchange program between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi, commenced on December 2 and concluded on December 15, aiming to revive the ancient ties between the two regions. PM Modi underscored the importance of Tamil as the world’s oldest language, with rich literature, and expressed delight in the growing interest among children and youth across the country towards learning Tamil, emphasizing its unifying power in India.
