Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the ‘Royal Order of the Polar Star’, Degree Commander Grand Cross, received in Sweden, to the 1.4 billion people of India and the enduring friendship between both countries, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This award signifies a milestone in the India-Sweden Strategic Partnership, reflecting the commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and global peace. PM Modi expressed gratitude to Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and the people of Sweden for this honor.
The conferment of the Royal Order of the Polar Star reaffirms the historic ties and bonds between India and Sweden, emphasizing the warmth and affection uniting both nations, stated the MEA. PM Modi, the first Asian leader to receive this award, was presented with the honor by Swedish Crown Princess Victoria in the presence of Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The ‘Royal Order of Polar Star’ Commander Grand Cross is the highest recognition bestowed upon a Head of Government. PM Modi received this honor as the 31st global accolade. Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf decided to confer this award on PM Modi, with the ceremony held at the County Governor’s residence, attended by Sweden’s Prime Minister Kristersson.
PM Modi and PM Kristersson exchanged special gifts highlighting the enduring civilizational and intellectual ties between India and Sweden. The gifts included replicas of hand-written epigrams by Rabindranath Tagore and a set of collected works of Tagore, symbolizing the shared cultural and intellectual heritage between the two nations.
