Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Sundar Pichai at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi to discuss India’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and potential collaborations with Google. Modi emphasized the need to harness India’s skilled youth and tech professionals to bolster the country’s AI capabilities. The meeting, described as delightful by Modi, highlighted the scope for deeper cooperation between the Indian government and Google in the AI domain.
The Prime Minister’s Office later shared insights from the meeting on its official YouTube channel, showcasing the dialogue between the two leaders. The ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, taking place in New Delhi, has gathered policymakers, industry leaders, academics, innovators, and civil society representatives worldwide. The summit serves as a global platform for discussions on enhancing AI cooperation.
This summit, the first major global AI event in the Global South, aligns with India’s vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (welfare and happiness for all) and the global principle of “AI for Humanity.” Over 110 countries and 30 international organizations are participating, with around 20 Heads of State or Government and nearly 45 ministers in attendance. The significant global participation underscores the increasing momentum towards responsible AI development, positioning India at the forefront of these discussions.
