Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar a happy birthday, praising his service to the nation and his efforts in enhancing India’s foreign policy and global relations. Jaishankar, born on January 9, 1955, in New Delhi, is a prominent BJP leader who has been serving as India’s External Affairs Minister since 2019. He is recognized as a seasoned diplomat who transitioned into active politics.

With over four decades of diplomatic experience, Jaishankar has held various significant roles, including serving as India’s Foreign Secretary from 2015 to 2018. Before his political career, he served in key diplomatic positions, such as India’s Ambassador to China and the United States. Jaishankar’s father, Krishnaswamy Subrahmanyam, a respected bureaucrat and strategic analyst, influenced his interest in international relations and strategic affairs.

Jaishankar, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1977, has a strong academic background in political science and international relations. His expertise in nuclear diplomacy has been a defining aspect of his career. Throughout his diplomatic journey, Jaishankar has played pivotal roles in strengthening India’s global engagements and bilateral ties with various countries.
