Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a task force on exam reforms, with Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani at the helm. The task force’s recommendations will be crucial in ensuring the credibility of future examinations. This move follows recent student protests over alleged paper leaks, leading to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The task force, which includes eminent figures like former ISRO Chairman S. Somnath and former IB Director Tapan Deka, will focus on overhauling the examination system. PM Modi emphasized the need for reliability, transparency, and technological integration in the examination process. He highlighted the establishment of fast-track courts and upcoming legislative measures to address malpractices.

In addition to Nilekani, the task force comprises experts such as IIT Chennai Director V. Kamakoti and former Education Secretary Anita Karwal. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who has taken charge of the Education Ministry, expressed gratitude for the responsibility. Joshi’s appointment comes amidst heightened scrutiny and public outcry over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, culminating in Pradhan’s resignation.
