Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 11th anniversary of the Jan Suraksha Schemes, emphasizing their role in providing social security to the people of India. Launched on May 9, 2015, by PM Modi, these schemes include Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), aimed at offering affordable financial protection to all, especially the underserved and vulnerable sections of society.
PM Modi expressed pride in the impact of the schemes, stating that they have brought dignity, assurance, and financial security to many lives. He highlighted the positive outcomes of PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana at the grassroots level, underscoring the significant benefits of the Atal Pension Yojana for ensuring a secure future for many individuals, particularly women.
The Jan Suraksha Schemes have witnessed substantial enrollment numbers, with a total of 94.5 crore enrollments to date. Specifically, PMJJBY has seen over 27.43 crore enrollments, PMSBY has garnered more than 58.09 crore participants, and the APY scheme has attracted over 9.04 crore individuals (as of April 30). Noteworthy is the fact that PMJJBY has disbursed claims exceeding Rs 21,500 crore for over 10.7 lakh families, while PMSBY has settled claims worth more than Rs 3,660 crore for over 1.84 lakh families.
These schemes, designed to enhance the insurance and pension landscape, aim to provide citizens with protection against life’s uncertainties and promote long-term financial stability.
