Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides engaged in bilateral discussions at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The talks aimed at enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, technology, education, culture, defense, security, AI, FinTech, innovation, and research. Both leaders also discussed regional and global issues, along with cooperation in multilateral forums, as per the Ministry of External Affairs.
Before their meeting, Modi and Christodoulides greeted each other warmly and even took a selfie together. President Christodoulides paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat earlier in the day. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with President Christodoulides, appreciating his positive outlook towards strengthening bilateral ties between India and the European Union.
Following the discussions, Jaishankar shared on X, “Delighted to meet President Christodoulides of the Republic of Cyprus in New Delhi today. Value his positive sentiments and guidance for enhancing our bilateral relations and India-EU cooperation.” He also expressed anticipation for Christodoulides’ meeting with PM Modi to further advance their partnership.
Christodoulides, who arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, was warmly welcomed by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta. The visit, as per the Ministry of External Affairs, builds on the momentum from PM Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening the India-Cyprus partnership.
During his stay in New Delhi, Christodoulides is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honor. Before reaching the capital, he visited Mumbai as part of his India tour, where he participated in ringing the NSE India bell with NSE Chairman Srinivas Injeti and NSE MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan. The visit also included discussions on enhancing bilateral ties and exploring avenues for deeper collaboration, as highlighted by NSE India.
