Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 77th Republic Day by paying tribute to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Upon his arrival, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed him. In a solemn ceremony, PM Modi laid a wreath at the memorial, leading the nation in honoring the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The Inter-Services Guards, comprising one officer and 21 inner guards (seven from each service), followed the traditions of ‘Salami Shastra’ and ‘Shok Shastra’ to pay their respects. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Indian Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi were also in attendance.
Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth was present during the wreath-laying ceremony. PM Modi shared his thoughts in the digital notebook. Earlier in the day, he extended warm wishes to the nation, hoping that the Republic Day celebrations would inspire citizens and strengthen the resolve to build a developed India.
Expressing his sentiments on social media, PM Modi conveyed his congratulations to all citizens on Republic Day. He emphasized the significance of the day as a symbol of India’s independence, Constitution, and democratic values, urging unity in the journey of nation-building. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be the Chief Guests at the Republic Day Parade this year.
Participants of ‘Mann ki Baat’, PM Modi’s monthly radio show, along with other special guests, will witness the Republic Day Parade. The event will showcase India’s military prowess, cultural diversity, and achievements in various fields. The parade will include a display of military strength, flypasts by different aircraft, and a cultural performance by 2,500 artists, celebrating ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
