Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, emphasizing its importance for Uttar Pradesh’s development. The 594-kilometre-long, 6-lane expressway, costing Rs 36,230 crore, aims to enhance infrastructure in the state. This project connects 12 districts, facilitating seamless travel across different regions of Uttar Pradesh.
PM Modi, addressing the public, highlighted the significance of the expressway passing near the sacred river Ganga. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to name the expressway after Maa Ganga, symbolizing the region’s rich heritage. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10-12 hours to approximately 6 hours, improving transportation efficiency.
The Ganga Expressway features an Emergency Landing Facility in Shahjahanpur district, enhancing national security preparedness. It is envisioned as a key economic corridor, promoting manufacturing and logistics development across the 12 districts it spans. The project aims to lower logistics costs, enhance supply chain efficiency, and increase manufacturing competitiveness in the region.
Improved connectivity through the Ganga Expressway will offer farmers direct access to markets, leading to better price realization and increased rural incomes. Additionally, the project is anticipated to boost tourism, create new economic prospects, and generate employment opportunities. The expressway will form the backbone of a broader network in Uttar Pradesh, fostering balanced regional development and economic growth.
