Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched and laid the foundation for various development projects totaling approximately Rs 18,800 crore in Surat. Among these projects is a 220-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital, enhancing healthcare services in Gujarat. The hospital, sprawling over an 8.6-acre campus, will cater to a significant number of insured individuals and beneficiaries in the region.
The newly opened ESIC Hospital, initially a 100-bed facility, has been upgraded to a 220-bed multi-specialty hospital with modern amenities. It now includes a medical college within the premises. Vikalp Shastri, the Medical Superintendent, highlighted the hospital’s focus on providing comprehensive healthcare services to workers and their families in various sectors, including construction.
Dean Bindi Bhatiyani emphasized the hospital’s commitment to offering free services and medications to patients, including costly procedures like cataract and complex surgeries. The ESIC Medical College will also provide opportunities for workers’ children to pursue medical education. Initially, the hospital will launch OPD and emergency services, followed by various medical departments in subsequent phases.
Equipped with advanced technology, the hospital will introduce services such as CT scans, MRI, advanced ultrasound, and ICU facilities. It aims to provide secondary and tertiary care services, becoming a trusted healthcare and educational institution for working-class families in the future.
