Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated various development projects in Chandigarh, including a neuroscience center and a mother and child center at PGIMER, a multipurpose auditorium at Panjab University, and road infrastructure projects in the tricity region. The projects aim to enhance healthcare, education, and road connectivity in the area. PM Modi also announced plans to visit Jalandhar in Punjab to launch projects worth Rs 5,470 crore.
Subsequently, PM Modi will visit Jalandhar in Punjab to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects. These projects, totaling Rs 5,470 crore, focus on strengthening connectivity, healthcare, and cultural heritage in the region. Before his visit to Jalandhar, PM Modi launched the country’s first 10-coach hydrogen-powered train named NaMo Green Rail and several projects in Haryana’s Jind.
Accompanied by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, PM Modi virtually inaugurated PGIMER’s Advanced Mother and Child Centre. This center, equipped with 300 beds and modern medical facilities, aims to provide specialized healthcare services for high-risk pregnancies and critically ill newborns. The Advanced Neurosciences Centre was also inaugurated to offer integrated services in neurology, neurosurgery, and neuro-critical care.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a 150-bed Critical Care Block under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission at PGIMER. This facility is expected to enhance emergency preparedness, intensive care services, and disaster response capabilities in the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various educational infrastructure projects in Chandigarh, focusing on improving academic facilities and residential options for students and researchers.
PM Modi also inaugurated major road infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity in the region. These projects include a six-lane Greenfield Highway in Mohali district and the PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway. These initiatives aim to reduce travel time, improve connectivity, and strengthen the overall infrastructure in the area.
