Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez in New Delhi to discuss bilateral ties and mutual regional and global interests. The meeting also involved discussions on deepening bilateral relations and advancing the interests of the Global South. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other officials were present during the meeting.
PM Modi and Rodriguez engaged in wide-ranging discussions covering various aspects of bilateral relations, including cooperation in energy, trade, investment, healthcare, and automobiles. Both leaders exchanged views on global and regional issues of mutual interest, reiterating their commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership and promoting the interests of the Global South. Earlier in the day, EAM Jaishankar commended Rodriguez for her continuous efforts to enhance the partnership between India and Venezuela.
Rodriguez’s visit to India aims to further deepen ties between the two nations and build on the existing bilateral partnership momentum. The Venezuelan delegation accompanying Rodriguez will explore opportunities for collaboration by visiting sites related to energy, pharmaceuticals, and auto sectors in India. The visit is expected to strengthen the warm and friendly relations between India and Venezuela, particularly in the energy sector, trade, and their shared commitment to the Global South.
