Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored India’s courageous soldiers and martyrs of Kargil on Vijay Diwas during the recent ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode. He emphasized the significance of July 26 as a day of national pride, marking Kargil Vijay Diwas. The day commemorates the exceptional bravery and unwavering spirit of the soldiers who fought in the high-altitude conflict in 1999.
The Prime Minister praised the Indian Armed Forces’ brave warriors for facing numerous challenges, including the harsh Himalayan terrain, extreme weather conditions, and a determined enemy. Despite these obstacles, their determination and sacrifice led to the successful reclamation of territory and defense of the nation. Modi highlighted that their actions serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.
In a gesture of respect, PM Modi acknowledged the gallant martyrs and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. He emphasized the importance of sharing the stories of these heroes with the youth to ensure that the spirit of sacrifice endures. Additionally, he mentioned the ‘Shaurya Vijay Yatra,’ a motorcycle rally symbolizing valor and victory, organized this year to honor the soldiers.
The observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas also underscores India’s advancements in the defense sector, including achievements in indigenous defense production, defense exports, and strategic partnerships with friendly nations. PM Modi highlighted a recent agreement with Indonesia on the Astra missile, showcasing global confidence in India’s defense technology and equipment. He called for paying heartfelt tributes to the immortal martyrs and reaffirming the commitment to building a secure, capable, and self-reliant India.
