Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 135th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ highlighted the efforts of local women in Biaora, Rajgarh district, who have turned plastic waste into a tool for environmental conservation and urban beautification. He commended the women and the ‘Paryavaran Premi Sanrakshan Samiti’ for their innovative approach to recycling plastic waste, which has now become a symbol of Biaora’s identity. The Prime Minister’s recognition of their work has sparked enthusiasm among the locals, who see it as a matter of pride for the entire district.
The women involved in the campaign emphasized that their goal is not just cleanliness but also a commitment to creating a clean and green future for the next generations. Anil Kushwaha, the head of the ‘Paryavaran Premi Sanrakshan Samiti,’ shared that their team has been converting polythene waste into ‘Eco-bricks’ for the past six months, which are used to make various items like tree guards, chairs, and dustbins. Despite facing initial challenges and mockery, they have received overwhelming support after the Prime Minister’s mention in ‘Mann Ki Baat.’
Minister of State Narayan Singh Panwar acknowledged the women’s efforts in making Biaora plastic-free by collecting and recycling plastic bottles and polythene. The initiative has already collected over 20 tonnes of plastic waste, producing more than 700 eco-bricks used for public structures. This waste-to-value model not only promotes environmental conservation but also generates employment and raises public awareness. The hope is that this successful model from Biaora will inspire similar initiatives nationwide following the Prime Minister’s recognition.
